Lansjärv

Lansjärv is located in the northern part of Överkalix Municipality, 46 km from the central town. The regional bus service operating the Kiruna–Luleå route passes twice daily. For children, there is a school bus, and it is also worth mentioning that every Friday there is a so-called “shopping trip” to the central town—a service for those who do not have access to a car to go shopping. The village has been equipped with fiber connection for several years, which provides excellent opportunities for working from home.

Events and meetings are organized year-round at Lansjärv Folkets Hus (Community Center). A recurring highlight is Lansjärv Day, featuring exhibitions, coffee sales, musical performances, and baking in the traditional bakehouse. The well-filled activity calendar also includes dinners, lunches, coffee gatherings, snowmobile café, National Day celebrations, gardening courses, plant exchange days, running competitions, lectures, and excursions to historical sites in the area. For children, the Halloween celebration with disco and ghost hunt is a popular annual event. Folkets Hus is also a meeting place where villagers and visitors gather every morning over a cup of coffee to discuss current topics. Sometimes the association moves its events outdoors, for example to Lillträsket or Sanningslandet. The Folkets Hus association works to ensure that people of all ages feel welcome.

Lansjärv is a large lake surrounded by beautiful beaches. Well-known is Sanningslandet, which now attracts not only locals but also free campers from all over Europe.

With Skrövån at its northern end and Lansån at its southern end, the lake system is ideal for those who enjoy paddling long distances in calm waters. The nature rest area at Sanningslandet is maintained voluntarily by villagers.

For those who enjoy outdoor activities, the Lansjärv area—with its many pine heaths and trails—is perfect for running, cycling, and horseback riding. In winter, ski tracks are prepared by volunteers. Hunting, fishing, and berry picking are, of course, activities that are continuously popular in the Lansjärv area.

Lansjärv is also home to one of Överkalix parish’s two churches.
